Actuaries Out of the Box: Our Roles in Implementing New Reporting Regime

Under the new reporting regimes actuaries have the opportunity to become leaders for all aspects of cash flows and related insights, rather than just the reserve change line on the income statement, to help educate the organization and rive informed business decisions. This session will provide practical examples and scenarios where actuaries take on leadership roles to drive reporting compliance and organizational changes; as well as a provide an opportunity to discuss what didn’t work as well when it came to deploying new technologies to the valuation and pricing teams.

Alex is a member of the Actuarial Service group at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.   Actuarial Services provides audit support and consulting services to the insurance industry, as well as other financial services companies.  During his time with PwC Alex was the Actuarial lead of team helping large life insurance company complete an M&A from a Chinese purchaser leading the actuarial implementation of PRCGAAP (an IFRS17 methodology), helped guide companies through PBR implementation, assisted in tax reform, and is leading several conversions around the new GAAP LTDI standard.

Chris leads the valuation components of RGA’s IFRS 17 and US GAAP Long Duration Targeted Improvements (LDTI) implementations. Previously he headed up the valuation for the Global Financial Solutions (GFS) and US Individual Health business lines as well as being the project lead for RGA’s actuarial transformation project. Prior to joining RGA, Chris worked for ING in both Philadelphia and Hong Kong within their Insurance Risk Management team. As part of this role, Chris was responsible for the implementation of economic capital and embedded value reporting for Asia/Pacific and overall capital management for ING in the United States.Chris has over 20 years of life insurance experience in New Zealand, Australia, Hong Kong and the United States. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science with Honors from Canterbury University in New Zealand and is a Fellow of Institute of Actuaries Australia (FIAA).
