Algorithmic modeling and epigenetics are two emerging tools to form an underwriting decision for a life insurance policy. In this session we will review the parallels between these two approaches, how they relate to one another, and how we should evaluate the performance of such tools.

Francisco Orduña is a Manager in the Insurance and Actuarial Advisory Services practice of Ernst & Young. He is a frequent speaker at industry seminars on topics such as enterprise risk management, longevity risk, and actuarial modeling of life insurance and annuity products. Francisco advises life insurers on integrated forecasting processes, including stress testing and recovery planning under multiple reporting regimes. He has extensive experience in US statutory and GAAP life insurance financial reporting, including international experience in regulatory implementation initiatives such as Solvency II.

Chief Data Scientist, FOXO Bioscience
Dr. Randy Olson is the Chief Data Scientist at FOXO Bioscience. He specializes in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data visualization. Prior to joining FOXO, he served as a Senior Data Scientist in the Computational Genetics Laboratory at the University of Pennsylvania, where he developed one of the most widely used open-source automated machine learning platforms called "TPOT." He is also a co-moderator for the "DataIsBeautiful" community on Reddit.
