Applying Social Determinants of Health Analytics to Drive Clinical, Operational and Financial Performance
Recorded On: 09/22/2020
60 percent to 80 percent of health care costs are attributed a member’s lifestyle choices, needs and wants, yet the healthcare industry has historically relied primarily on clinical and claims data for analytics. Integrating social determinants of health analytics into health care operations is enabling significant insights and measurable improvement across a multitude of payer functions, including many actuarial areas like evaluation of distribution channels, plan design, pricing, experience analysis, and risk assessment and adjustment. Learn how payers are now gaining new understandings across all lines of business to gain competitive advantages. Attendees will learn: • The types of data used to predict social determinants of health for an individual • Specific applications of how actuaries and data scientists are applying social determinants of health to drive improved performance and some illustrative results • The actuarial profession is in the early stages of leveraging this information and much more can be accomplished through greater awareness
