Michael Prendes, FSA, MAAA

Senior Market Actuary and Vice President, elipsLife

Mike Prendes, FSA, MAAA is a Senior Market Actuary and Vice President at elipsLife, a subsidiary of Swiss Re. At elipsLife, Prendes is responsible for pricing and management of its portfolio of Group Life and Disability products in the US market into which it has recently expanded. In his role, reporting to the elipsLife Chief Actuary, he also partners with company leaders to develop a successful strategy for pricing, product positioning, and financial management. His background is diverse with both actuarial and non-actuarial roles within the group employee benefits space. Before joining elipsLife, Prendes was as a Principal and Consulting Actuary at Sydney Consulting Group, a premier actuarial and compliance consulting firm specializing in supplemental life and health products. Before that, he previously served as Director of Product Management at Anthem, where he oversaw the launch of new supplemental benefits, and also Allstate Benefits, where he lead pricing and design projects for various life and health employee benefits.

William Bade, FSA, MAAA

William S. Bade, FSA, MAAA, is a consulting actuary with the Tampa office of Milliman. He joined the firm in 2015 after spending 10 years in the worksite benefits industry corporate setting. Prior to joining Milliman, Bade served as vice president of national account management at Allstate Benefits, a subsidiary of The Allstate Corporation. In that role, he was responsible for the management of national account premium administration, proposals, contracts and new client implementation. Through Bade's exposure to distribution and marketing, he developed a passion for anticipating market trends, distribution opportunities, and the interaction between market trends and product pricing. Bade also served as a health valuation actuary at Allstate Benefits for over five years. While there, he was responsible for worksite valuation, annual reporting, budgeting, cash flow testing, experience studies and profit improvement initiatives. His product development, marketing and valuation experience at Allstate Benefits included a broad range of individual and group voluntary products. Bade provides a unique blend of project management, creative problem solving, and excellence in core pricing and valuation throughout the customer life cycle.
